Fall 2019
November 9th: Head of the South
Agusta, GA
Wake Forest Rowing closed our season at Head of the South. The Mixed 2x placed 4th, and the Mixed 4+ placed 4th, as well. The Women's Club 4+ came in 11th, and the Men's 2- placed 5th. Overall, a good end to a great season!
October 19th: Secret City Head Race
Oak Ridge, TN
Wake Rowing kicked off 5K season for its Novice crew with a win in the Mixed 4+ at the Secret City Head Race. The VW2x placed 1st as well. The VM1x and the varsity mixed double, and the varsity women's four all placed third in their events. A great start to the season.
September 28th: High Point Autumn Rowing Festival
High Point, NC
Our Varsity team competed sans Novices in a local regatta in which our women placed 2nd in the 4+ category and our men's single came in 7th.

Spring 2019
April 19th-20th: SIRA
Oak Ridge, TN
Wake Rowing concludes their season with the annual trip to the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championship in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. For the races on April 19th, the team competed in the M2-, M2x, W2x, MV4+ and W1x for time trials. The M2- and M2x qualified for the A Finals with a 6th place and 3rd place times, respectively. The W1x will race in the A final after placing 4th during time trials. The MV4+ qualified for semifinals after placing 9th on Friday. The team looks forward to all the racing on Saturday.
April 6th: High Point Scrimmage
High Point, NC
Wake Rowing continued their season with a visit to the inaugural High Point Scrimmage at Oak Hollow Lake. We managed to amass a variety of entries: MV8+, two MV4+, WV8+, WV4+, M2- and M2x. Despite the informal context, it was a fantastic opportunity to compete with some regional teams and practice races before SIRA. The day of racing concluded with a scramble, in which mixed boats were instantaneously put together from all the crews. The scramble and pancakes allowed us to get to know other members of the North Carolina rowing community. It was a happy day!
March 23rd: John Hunter Regatta
Gainesville, GA
Wake rowing started 2k season at the John Hunter Regatta last Saturday! Four boats competed: MV4+, WV4+, MV8+, and a MJV4+. The mens varsity four and the mens eight advanced to the Petite final where the mens eight finished 5th and the mens four finished 3rd. We are looking forward to SIRAs come mid-April and are excited to put in meters and gain speed.
February 23rd: Hammerfest Erg Sprints
Gastonia, NC
Before proceeding to our regattas, the team competed at the Hammerfest Erg Sprints. We enjoyed the event, and had most everyone competing perform faster than their previous personal best. In the Men's Lightweight event, Daniel Chan placed 2nd! In the Men's 2x500m Relay, Cole Teander and Trenor Philbin were able to take home the gold! Congratulations to everyone on their hard work and thank you to all the parents that cheered us on!
Fall 2018
November 10th: Head of the South
Augusta, GA
Wake crew had an amazing time at our last regatta of the season. Racing in this competition was our VM4+, NW4+, VM1x, mixed V4+, and mixed N2x. Big congratulations to our medalists: VM1x [Silver] and mixed N2x [Bronze]. All results can be found here. After a great 5k season, we are looking forward to preparing for 2k season this spring!
October 20th: Secret City Head Race
Oak Ridge, TN
Big success at the Secret City Regatta! Five boats competed: NW4+, NM4+, VM4+, VM1x, and VW4x. Out of the five boats that competed, four rowed away with medals! Results can be found here. Additionally, Wake Crew honored breast cancer awareness month by wearing pink throughout the day, and during the races (check out our photos). With Head of the South two weeks away, we plan to practice hard to keep up this success!

We had six total boats compete: VM4+, VW4+, NW2x (MW2x), NW4+, NM4+,
and a mixed 8+. Huge congrats to the VM4+, NW4+, and NM4+ as they all
made finals! And a special shoutout to the NM4+ for finishing SECOND
in finals with a time of 7:52.6! Our mixed 8+ of varsity/novice members

We had a great weekend full of racing. In the course of two days we had four boats compete in a total of 9 races. Our Novice Women's Double advanced to Final A and came 6th overall. The Varsity Men's Double competed in Final B and came in 5th in their race. Our Varsity Mens Four competed in Final E and came in 2nd. And finally our Varsity Women's Four advanced to Final B and came in 1st in their race! We have had a great season and are now looking forward to next year!

It was a perfect day for a regatta with our Novice Women Four, our two Varsity Women's Fours, our Varsity Men's quad, and our Varsity Men's double race it out in some great competition.The next two weeks will be filled with some hard training to get us ready for SIRA's in two weeks! High Point Rowing Club's second annual indoor regatta invites rowers to compete on an individual level with ergs (indoor rowing machines). Last year, the club hosted 110 rowers, with winners in each event receiving an Olympic sized antique gold medal. Results will be posted after event.

The 30th annual John Hunter Regatta will be at the Lake Lanier Olympic Rowing Center, the site of the ‘96 Olympic Games. The regatta is expected to draw more than 1,500 rowers and 3,000 spectators, representing more than 50 colleges and youth teams from throughout Georgia, Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia, Louisiana, Alabama, Texas and Florida.
Results will be posted after event.

Despite the weather being a bit soggy everyone had fun! We floated 7 crews and many of our novices got to experience their first regatta! All crews competed against some serious competition and set good benchmark times to improve upon at our next regatta, Head of the South!

During the John Hunter Regatta at the Lake Lanier Olympic Course, our team competed in five events. The Novice Women's 8 placed second in their flight! Our Novice Men's 4+ fought strong competition in their heat for a successful race. The Women's Varsity 4+ and Men's Varsity 8 competed in their respective heats against other strong crews in preparation for the last regatta of the season, SIRA. Thank you to the Bosway family for their support at this regatta!

Each of our crews competed in our final regatta of the fall at the Head of the South in Augusta, Georgia, on November 8th. We competed in 6 events: Women's Novice 4+, Women's Novice 8+, Men's Novice 8+, Women's Varsity 4+, Men's Varsity 8+, and Men's Varsity 2x. Each crew competed in hard fought races and we are extremely excited for winter training and the upcoming spring season!

October 26: 'Hollow'een Regatta
Oak Hollow Marina, High Point, NC
Wake Forest Rowing competed against three other North Carolina club teams this weekend in 8 different events. Wake won 7 of the 8 events! A huge thank you to High Point University for holding the event. Also many thanks to High Point University, NC State, and UNC Wilmington for some great competition out on the water this weekend!
